Hyderabad: Widows, single women, persons with disabilities, weavers and toddy tappers are among vulnerable groups who can now seek new pensions under the Cheyutha Social Security Pension Scheme, with the government setting August 31 as the deadline for applications.
The first phase also covers filaria patients and persons with blood disorders including Thalassemia, Sickle Cell Disease and Haemophilia, according to operational guidelines issued by the society for elimination of rural poverty on August 10.
Applications already submitted during Praja Palana, Pragathi Pranalika 99-day Gram Sabhas and Prajavani will be taken up through the Cheyutha portal. Those who had submitted applications along with the required documents need not apply again. Applicants who had not applied earlier, or whose applications lacked supporting documents, can submit fresh applications with the required documents.
A meeting was held at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) headquarters with deputy commissioners, project officers and Tahsildars of Hyderabad district to discuss implementation of the new pension process.
District Collectors have been tasked with facilitating the required certificates and ensuring verification. Self-help group federations will assist eligible widows and single women in obtaining certificates and submitting applications.
