Hyderabad: Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Sunday held a preparatory meeting at the committee hall of the Legislative Assembly building with senior government and police officials to discuss the arrangements, facilities, and security measures.

Officials were directed to be available to provide appropriate information and assistance to the ministers and members during the session. “Information requested by the members should be provided as quickly as possible,” the Speaker said.

The police were directed to take measures to ensure that the sessions proceed smoothly. Information about planned protests or demonstrations should be obtained in advance and prevented, Speaker Prasad said.

Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy said all departmental officials should work collectively to successfully conduct the Council sessions. Necessary nodal officers and liaison officers should be appointed. The Chairman asked officials to send data to answer pending questions.

“There is a high possibility of calls for demonstrations during these sessions. Ensure that 'Chalo Assembly' programmes do not take place,” Sukhender Reddy said. “Adequate precautions should be taken to prevent traffic disruptions for the ministers, MLAs and MLCs attending the sessions," he said.

The presiding officers expressed appreciation for government and police officials and others who had worked for the smooth conduct of the previous sessions and asked them to do so in the Winter Session as well.
