Hyderabad: Mohammed Asadullah was reappointed to the state Waqf Board, this time as in-charge CEO. The former chief executive officer (CEO) on Wednesday assumed charge, following a Government Order.

The official who was serving as full-time CEO was repatriated to the parent department earlier this year, following High Court order. However, following administrative issues in view of the absence of the CEO, the government has decided to take his services until a full time official is appointed.

“In view of the administrative exigencies and to ensure the smooth functioning of the Telangana Waqf Board, the government hereby place the services of Md Asadullah, additional collector, as in-charge CEO, Telangana Waqf Board, until further orders,” reads the GO, released by minorities welfare department, secretary, B. Shafiullah on October 14. Before the HC order Asadullah was serving as full time CEO.

On January 10, the HC had found that the appointment of Asadullah was in violation of Section 23 of the Waqf Act. The court had directed the removal of Asadullah as CEO and ordered the appointment of a new full-time CEO.

However, it gave liberty to the board to appoint an in-charge CEO till a full-time CEO is appointed.
