NIZAMABAD: Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri on Sunday criticised former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, alleging that he betrayed the trust of Telangana society and misused his knowledge of irrigation to siphon off ₹50,000 crore. He remarked that Chandrashekar Rao’s statements lacked substance and direction.

Addressing a meeting after felicitating newly elected BJP sarpanches, Arvind said he was once an admirer of Chandrashekar Rao as a movement leader. He claimed that the BJP had demonstrated its strength in the recent panchayat elections within the Nizamabad Parliamentary constituency and asserted that the party must also secure victory in the municipal elections.

Targeting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the MP said that if the Chief Minister had the resolve and truly represented Palamuru, he should ensure that members of the Kalvakuntla family allegedly involved in corruption were jailed. He accused the Chief Minister of making statements while failing to act.

Arvind further alleged that until 2023, the Congress failed to even save its election deposits and came to power due to circumstances unfavourable to the BJP. He said there was no need for the Chief Minister to approach Delhi for gram panchayat funds, as the Centre releases funds directly to local bodies.

He added that funds under the 15th Finance Commission are provided by the Centre and that the state government has no role in their allocation, cautioning against creating unnecessary hype over the issue. Nizamabad Urban BJP MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, party district president K. Dinesh Kumar, and other party leaders were present.
