Hyderabad: Director-General of Police CV Anand here on Thursday reviewed the operational preparedness and future readiness of the Greyhounds force during his visit to the headquarters.

In light of the fact that Maoist activities have almost come to an end, he discussed the downsizing and restructuring of Greyhounds and how many are essential to maintain minimum strength to tackle future crisis.

The discussions also covered advanced training, capability building, modernization, infrastructure development, administrative support, and welfare initiatives aimed at further enhancing the efficiency of this elite unit.

“We also deliberated on future requirements and a strategic vision for the next five years to ensure the force remains agile, technologically empowered, and mission-ready at all times,” he added.

The Greyhounds, which is an elite special forces unit of the Telangana Police, is specialized in counter-insurgency and jungle warfare operations against Naxalite-Maoist terrorists. Established in 1989-90, the unit is renowned for rigorous training, guerrilla tactics.
