HYDERABAD: Union Home and Cooperation minister Amit Shah will visit Telangana on October 4 to lay the foundation stone for the Sabar Dairy Project and inaugurate Amul’s first modern dairy plant in the state, Union coal and mines minister G. Kishan Reddy announced on Friday. Shah also will meet party leaders at the airport.
The event will be held at the Urji Industrial Park in Toopran, Medak district. Kishan Reddy said the project would be a major milestone for the dairy sector in Telangana, strengthening the milk industry, adding value to dairy products and creating more opportunities for farmers.

It will also manufacture three metric tonnes of fresh sweets and five metric tonnes each of bakery items and ghee per day, with scope to expand capacity later.
Kishan Reddy linked the project to “White Revolution 2.0”, launched by the Union Cooperation Ministry on September 19, 2024, to expand dairy cooperatives and boost market access for farmers. The programme targets a 50 per cent rise in milk procurement by 2028–29 and aims to set up 75,000 new cooperative societies across India, including 1,525 in Telangana.
He said the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) had approved about ₹1.16 lakh crore for Telangana in the past 12 years, including nearly ₹60,000 crore for paddy procurement. With over 60,000 cooperative societies in the state, he added, a stronger cooperative system could raise farmers’ income and ensure better returns for their produce.
