Amit Shah Must Answer On Voter Deletion: TPCC Chief Mahesh Goud
TPCC Chief Mahes Goud questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the alleged removal of eligible voters' names from electoral rolls in Telangana through SIR.
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the alleged removal of eligible voters' names from electoral rolls in Telangana through SIR.
“Amit Shah should answer why eligible voters’ names are being removed from the electoral rolls in Telangana,” Goud questioned.
He said the Centre had been in power for nearly 12 years and questioned what it had done for Telangana during this period. He also asked whether the Centre had fulfilled the promises made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act after the formation of Telangana and whether it had sanctioned the projects promised to the state.
Goud alleged that apart from doing politics in the name of Lord Sri Rama, the BJP-led Centre had done little for Telangana. Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, he alleged that eligible voters were being removed from the lists. He also referred to alleged irregularities in voter lists in West Bengal, Bihar and Tamil Nadu.
He said Amit Shah should address the issue of deletion of eligible voters' names when he visits Hyderabad and explain the Centre's position on the matter. Goud said the INDIA bloc was holding protests across the country against alleged “vote theft” in the name of SIR and past elections, and that the demonstrations were aimed at creating awareness among people.
