All Set for Installing Khairatabad Ganesh Idol

Hyderabad: Preparations are underway for the installation of the Khairatabad Ganesh. The mandap is being managed jointly by two Utsav Samithis overseeing arrangements. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is likely to attend the first day of puja. Utsav Samiti’s president and local MLA D. Nagender will personally invite him.
This year, the idol will stand 69 feet tall and feature three faces and eight hands, sheltered under a seven-hooded serpent. It will be flanked by the Vasavi Ammavari Temple on one side and the Gajjalamma Temple on the other.
The idol is being made entirely of clay and painted using natural colours. Around 100 artisans from four different states are involved in its creation.
Organiser Mahesh Yadav said, “The final work on the idol is in progress. Other arrangements are being jointly supervised by both committees. Since lakhs of devotees are expected, barcoding and multiple entry rows are being planned.”
He added that lead sculptor Rajender has promised to deliver the completed idol two days before the festival began on August 27.
Meanwhile, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi, which oversees the Ganesh immersion procession, announced the election of its new office-bearers and executive body.
Dr Ravinutala Shashidhar has been appointed general secretary. President G. Raghava Reddy stated that the new panel will assume their responsibilities immediately.
