Nalgonda: All India Congress Committee (AICC) permanent invitee and party in-charge for the erstwhile Khammam district, Dr Challa Vamsi Chand Reddy, on Thursday assured that the youth would be given ample opportunities within the Congress.

Speaking at a media conference at Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan in Khammam, he said that, following the AICC’s directives, new committees would be formed from the village level up to the district level to strengthen the party. Booth-level committees would also be established across the district.

He noted that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge has declared 2025 the “Year of Local Authorities’ Elections.”

Dr Vamsi Chand Reddy emphasised that all party leaders would receive fair treatment and that youth would be afforded leadership roles. He announced that proposals for nominations to state government corporation posts, such as chairpersons and directors, must be submitted by July 12. In consultation with District Congress Committee (DCC) president Puvvada Durga Prasad, he will finalise two names from each Assembly constituency. Priority will be given to those leaders who contributed significantly to Congress victories in the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Regarding eligibility for party posts, he said that candidates for DCC president must have at least five years of party work experience, while those for mandal committee president need a minimum of three years.
