HYDERABAD: The South-Central Railway has introduced AI-powered passenger information assistants, Bholu Mini and Bholu Max, to enhance passenger services through interactive and multilingual support systems.

The kiosks have been deployed on a trial basis, with Bholu Mini installed at the Malkajgiri station and Bholu Max at Kacheguda. The system was demonstrated on Friday at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad.

The AI assistants have been conceptualised and developed in-house by Anirudh Pamar, senior divisional commercial manager, Hyderabad division.

Bholu Mini is a compact, voice-activated kiosk that provides real-time train information, platform details and station amenities in Telugu. It operates round the clock and is designed as a low-cost, easily deployable system.

Bholu Max, the advanced version, features both touch-screen and voice-based interaction. It supports 12 Indian languages and is equipped with a 21-inch interface. The system offers live train tracking, route guidance and station information, along with offline database support to ensure uninterrupted service.

Railway officials said the kiosks are intended to reduce congestion at manual enquiry counters and provide a scalable, cost-effective model for deployment across major stations. Feedback from users during the trial phase will be used to further refine the system before wider implementation.
