Adilabad: Adivasi groups have called a bandh in the combined Adilabad district on July 21 to demand the immediate withdrawal of Government Order 49. Issued by the state government, GO 49 designates the tiger corridor between Maharashtra’s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and Adilabad’s Kawal Tiger Reserve as a conservation reserve.

The Adivasis argue that enforcing GO 49 endangers their survival and livelihoods. Several organisations, including Thudum Debba, Adivasi Sankshema Parishath, Adivasi Sena, and Rajgond Seva Samiti, jointly announced the bandh and appealed for public support.

Sirpur (T) MLA Palvai Harish Babu endorsed the strike, urging BJP activists, party leaders, and the business community to back the bandh on July 21. The BJP legislator strongly condemned GO 49, stating it was imposed without the consent of local residents or their elected representatives.
