Adilabad: Police organised mandal-level volleyball competitions involving 26 villages under the ‘Police Meekosam’ programme at Yapalguda village in Adilabad mandal on Wednesday, as part of efforts to make villages ganja- and drug-free and promote education among students and youth.

Addressing the event, SP Akhil Mahajan urged villagers to participate in efforts to eradicate ganja and drug use.

He distributed helmets to 10 youth who followed traffic rules and provided Rs. 20,000 to run a library in the village.

Mahajan also inaugurated CCTV cameras installed with the support of villagers at Bangariguda, Yapalguda, Chada and Pochera for village security and to monitor crime.

Adilabad Rural circle inspector Raheel Pasha, sub-inspector V. Vishnavardhan, sarpanch Kodapa Nirosha, Upa Sarpanch Thonpula Dattu and villagers were present.
