Actors, Influencers To Get ED Notices For Promoting Betting Apps
A team of officers has initiated the process to collect data from the Telangana police including the CID, from the FIRs registered in the state with regard to the case.
Hyderabad:The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, who registered cases against 29 Tollywood actors and other influencers for promoting betting apps, are likely to serve notices to betting app companies and advertising agencies, who prepared endorsement plans.
Suspecting hawala transactions were made in promoting the betting apps, the ED officials are likely to collect agreements made between the betting apps and celebrities to verify the mode of payments. A team of officers has initiated the process to collect data from the Telangana police including the CID, from the FIRs registered in the state with regard to the case.
Sources said that the ED has not yet served notices on film actors; currently, its officers are verifying the details of victims, betting apps organisers based on their IP addresses and the agreements made between them.
The agency also inquired about the report to be submitted to the DGP by the committee appointed by the government on betting apps.
