Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a total of 199 cases in 2025, leading to the arrest of 273 accused, according to the bureau’s year-end round-up released on Tuesday.
Of the total cases, 157 were trap cases involving the arrest of 224 accused, including 176 government servants. The ACB also registered 15 cases related to disproportionate assets against government servants and 26 other cases of criminal misconduct, in which 34 accused were arrested.
During the year, the ACB conducted 26 regular enquiries into corruption allegations and carried out 54 surprise checks at various offices, including Sub-Registrar offices, RTA check posts and welfare hostels. The bureau obtained 115 sanction orders from the government for prosecution and filed charge sheets accordingly.
In the 158 trap cases booked in 2025, the ACB seized a total of ₹57.17 lakh, of which ₹35.89 lakh was reimbursed to complainants. Additionally, properties worth ₹96.13 crore were unearthed in 15 disproportionate assets cases.
As part of preventive and capacity-building measures, special emphasis was laid on training ACB personnel. Basic induction training was provided to 73 officers, along with specialised training in surveillance techniques, financial investigation, digital transaction tracking, the Benami Properties Act, and legal aspects of trap and DA cases.
Earlier this month, during Anti-Corruption Week (December 3–9, 2025), ACB Director General Charu Sinha launched a QR code-based complaint system to enable citizens, especially those in remote areas, to register complaints quickly and securely without intermediaries. The bureau also organised awareness programmes, rallies, essay competitions and distributed prizes to promote public participation in the fight against corruption.
The public has been urged to report any demand for bribe by public servants through the toll-free number 1064, WhatsApp (9440446106), or ACB Telangana’s official social media platforms, with assurance that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
