Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday raided the residence of Bhukya Hariram, Kaleshwaram project’s former engineer-in-chief (ENC), and 13 other places linked to him in the state. It was reported that the agency reportedly found huge properties amassed by the accused.

The raids came just days after the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) submitted its report on the reasons that led to three barrages of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme (KLIS) getting damaged.

According to sources, the ACB began the search at the villa of Hariram in Gachibowli at about 6 am. Officials reportedly found documents related to agriculture land, residential plots, commercial buildings, cash and gold.

The officials also reportedly found bank accounts of Hariram and verified income-tax statements. It was also stated that Hariram possessed three bank lockers in Hyderabad. The officials are likely to open the lockers to find out if they hold any valuables.

Raids were also conducted in Hyderabad, Medak, Gajwel and other places. It was reported that Hariram and his family members possessed hundred acres of agricultural land in Medak district. The raids continued till last reports reached Hyderabad and Medak.

The raids were carried out based on the reports of National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) in which the officials allegedly found irregularities of Hariram in the construction of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme. Hariram had also appeared before the NDSA during its investigation into the irregularities earlier.

Sources said that officials were yet to assess the total value of disproportionate assets of the officer. ACB officials reportedly found huge property documents which were registered on the name of family members of the accused.
