Hyderabad: The retired irrigation officer, C. Muralidhar Rao, reportedly had an association with the BRS former MLA from Khammam district and allegedly had financial transactions with him. After discovering that he diverted the tainted money to his son Abhishek Rao's businesses, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have intensified the probe to establish the links with the former MLA.

Sources said that the agency grilled the retired irrigation officer Muralidhar Rao in connection with the alleged illegal assets. He had good contacts with several political leaders, especially among the BRS leadership. Reportedly, the Palair former MLA and BRS leader K. Upender Reddy had a nexus with the accused officer and they had financial transactions.
The ACB also found that Muralidhar Rao purchased immovable properties at different places, including the benami names, to avoid the law enforcement agencies' vigil. The ACB also sought assistance from the stamps and registration department to evaluate the value of the seized properties.
