Nalgonda: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested Suryapet deputy superintendent of police K. Partha Sarathi and Suryapet town inspector P. Veera Raghavulu for demanding a Rs 25 lakh bribe from a scanning centre to not arrest him.

The ACB officials acted on a complaint of the scanning centre owner, who produced evidence for the two police officials demanding the bribe. The complainant agreed to pay a bribe of Rs 16 lakh and then approached the ACB.

ACB officials conducted a raid on the Suryapet DSP office and arrested DSP Partha Sarathi and Inspector Veera Raghavulu.

A team of Telangana Medical Council had conducted a raid on the scanning centre on April 18, and found that the person running it did not have the required educational qualification of MD (Radiology), had faked the certificates, and his registration for medical practice had expired. Following this, a case was filed against the owner of the centre, which is located near the Telangana Tallu statue in Suryapet.
