Academic Setback Pushes Youth to Die by Suicide

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old event manager died by suicide at his residence in Shalivahananagar on Monday afternoon. The deceased, Sattu Anil Kumar, was reportedly under psychological distress due to repeated academic failures. According to Chikkadpally inspector B. Shoban, Anil left a suicide note stating that no one was responsible for his death.

Anil’s mother, Sattu Anasuya, in her complaint, said her son had failed multiple subjects since joining Nalla Malla Reddy College in Dundigal and had been mentally disturbed. On Monday, after helping dispatch event materials to Nizamabad, Anil told her he was feeling tired and went to rest in his room.

Around 5 pm, visiting relatives noticed he had not emerged for a long time. When they called out and received no response, they peered through a gap in the door and found him unresponsive. The door was broken open, and Anil was found dead. A neighbour alerted police. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Wife, Two Men Held for Killing Husband

Hyderabad: Three persons, including his wife, were arrested on Tuesday for the murder of Vasthapula Swamy, 37, a manager at a tractor showroom. He was killed on the outskirts of Katepally village on Raigiri-Mothkur Road in a plot orchestrated by his wife and her accomplices.

According to Motakondur inspector Upender, the arrested were identified as Gunti Sai Kumar, 33, Pottepaka Mahesh, 33, and Swamy’s wife, Vasthapula Swathi, 35. Another accused, Cheemala Ramalinga Swamy, is absconding. Police seized three mobile phones and a motorcycle from the accused.

Investigation revealed that Swathi had been facing physical abuse from her husband after confronting him over an extramarital affair with a woman, who is reportedly the wife of one of the accused, Mahesh. Swathi, meanwhile, rekindled an old relationship with Sai Kumar, whom she had met in Bhongir in 2017.

The trio allegedly conspired to eliminate Swamy. On July 13, they hired a car and trailed Swamy and his friend Veerababu as they were returning home on a motorcycle. The accused rammed the car into the bike, dragging it nearly 120 feet. Swamy died on the spot while Veerababu was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital. Motakondur police have remanded the arrested and are continuing efforts to apprehend the fourth accused.

Police arrested Vittal Patel, 32, of Dream Pop bakery in Suraram Colony on Monday for using date-expired and adulterated ingredients to prepare bakery products. Police during a raid seized several expired items, including vanilla powder, food colouring, and biscuits.

65-Year-Old Man Dies by Suicide in Jeedimetla

Hyderabad: A 65-year-old man died allegedly by suicide at a construction site in Gajularamaram in Jeedimetla, on Tuesday morning. Police said Rangayya Sagar had left home around 4 am for work. Around 8.30 am, his son received a phone call from his father’s colleague Paramesh, informing that Rangayya was found dead at the site. The family rushed to the spot and tried to take him to a hospital but he was declared dead on the way.

Maoist Couple Give Up Before Police

Adilabad: Maoist Chhattisgarh state committee member Atram Lachanna, 65, alias Gopanna and his wife, Chowdhury Ankubai,55, a district committee member, surrendered before the Ramagundam police commissioner Amber Kishore Jha on Tuesday.

Lachanna is a native of Parapelli of Kotapalli mandal of Mancherial district, while Ankubai is from Agarguda of Bejjur mandal of Komarambheem Asifabad district.

Lachanna went underground in 1983 and was sent to Chhattisgarh and faces 35 cases, while 14 cases were pending against Ankubai in Telangana. Ankubai went underground in 1988 and later worked in Chhattisgarh.

SP Jha appealed to the Maoists working in different states to surrender before police, and assured them that they would be provided rehabilitation and sanctioned welfare schemes.
