ADILABAD: Adilabad district authorities on Sunday allotted 932 of 982 double-bedroom houses to eligible beneficiaries through a lottery at Mavala and KRK Colony in the district headquarters.

Of the total units, 753 are located in KRK Colony and 179 at Mavala. Officials said 720 houses had been allotted during the previous BRS government, but 123 beneficiaries were found ineligible during a subsequent inquiry.

The final list was prepared after inviting objections to the preliminary list displayed at the Adilabad Municipality and verifying the claims received, officials said. As many as 597 applications selected earlier were retained in the final list.

District collector Rajarshi Shah said allegations of bribery in allotment of the houses were found to be baseless during the inquiry.

He said action would be taken if any irregularities were detected in the allotment process. The houses will be handed over to selected beneficiaries by in-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao.
