₹87.89 Crore Worth of Paddy Missing From Three Rice Mills
Officials found that 34,388 metric tonnes of paddy, valued at Rs 87.89 crore, was unaccounted for during the inspections.
KARIMNAGAR: Paddy worth Rs 87.89 crore was found missing from three rice mills in Thakkallapalli village of Jagtial Rural mandal, prompting the police to register criminal cases against the mill owners for allegedly misusing Custom Milled Rice (CMR) paddy.
The cases were registered following complaints lodged by Civil Supplies Department officials based on the findings of raids conducted by the State Vigilance and Enforcement Department on Wednesday and Thursday.
The inspections covered Sri Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy Industries, Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Industries and Sri Lakshmi Balaji Industries.
Officials found that 34,388 metric tonnes of paddy, valued at Rs 87.89 crore, was unaccounted for during the inspections.
According to the vigilance department, 17,355 metric tonnes of paddy worth Rs 43.72 crore was missing from Sri Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy Industries, 1,987 metric tonnes worth Rs 5.48 crore from Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Industries, and 15,046 metric tonnes worth Rs 38.68 crore from Sri Lakshmi Balaji Industries.
The vigilance and enforcement department submitted its report to the district civil supplies department, which lodged complaints with the police.
Acting on the directions of the district collector, police registered criminal cases against the rice mill owners, including Konda Laxman, Konda Praneeth, Konda Aruna, Konda Upender and Konda Arun. Further investigation is under way.
