8 Bullets Seized From Passenger At RGIA

HYDERABAD: Airport security officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, seized eight live bullets from the checked-in baggage of a passenger on Thursday and handed him over to the RGIA police.
The passenger, Sukhdeep Singh, 32, of Bhawanigarh in Punjab, was travelling to Amritsar from Hyderabad via Delhi. Security personnel detected the ammunition during baggage screening. The rounds included four 0.2 mm, two 0.7 mm, one 7.52 mm and one 7.62 mm.
Police said Singh failed to produce a valid licence for arms or ammunition. He claimed the bullets were inadvertently left in his possession from a 2023 incident in Punjab, which is now under verification.
Preliminary inquiries revealed Singh had travelled to Nanded on August 22 to visit a gurdwara and later decided to return to Punjab by air due to heavy rains in his native place. He came to Hyderabad to board a connecting flight when the ammunition was detected.
Singh, along with the seized ammunition, was handed over to the RGIA police, who booked him under Section 25(1B)(a) of the Arms Act, 1959. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway.
