7 Cattle Checkposts Set Up In Khammam
The special checkposts aim to prevent any law and order problems caused by illegal cattle transport. Police have warned of strict action and legal cases against those involved.
Nalgonda:Khammam police have established seven checkposts at state and district borders to curb the illegal transportation of cattle to Hyderabad from Andhra Pradesh. This move comes after intelligence revealed that some individuals were using routes through the district to smuggle cattle.
The checkposts have been set up at Paladugu in Wyra mandal, Basvapuram Cross Road in Konijerla mandal, Hanuman Thanda in Kalluru mandal, Venkatagiri Cross Road in Khammam Rural mandal, Subled Cross Road in Tirumalapem mandal, Sigarenipally Toll Plaza in Kusumanchi mandal and Vallabhi in Mudigonda mandal.
Khammam police commissioner Sunil Dutt, in a video conference with police officials, said round-the-clock surveillance would be maintained at these checkposts. Police personnel and staff from the animal husbandry department have been deployed to oversee the operations.

The commissioner also directed officials to step up monitoring ahead of Bakrid next month. He warned that stringent action would be taken against anyone spreading communal disharmony through social media posts. A special monitoring cell has been formed to identify and act against such offenders.
