68 Control Rooms for Ganesh Immersion

Hyderabad: The Southern Power Distribution Company Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) has made adequate arrangements to ensure the Ganesh idol procession and immersion program conduct in a safe manner on September 6.

This was stated by the TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Musharraf Faruqui, who conducted a teleconference with Zonal Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers of Greater Hyderabad on Saturday.

The officials reported that thorough inspections were conducted at pandals with large idols, streets, and roads where the procession will take place. They confirmed the completion of tasks such as restringing loose conductors, ensuring proper earthing at transformers, providing insulation where necessary, and installing PVC pipes and plastic sheets at locations with iron poles and fuse boxes.

Further, staff has been assigned on a shift basis to ensure continuous availability in every section. Apart from the 101 sub-division level Quick Response teams from operations, Lines, and CBD departments, officials and staff from other departments have also been assigned duties to ensure seamless operations.

In the Medchal Zone, 31 control rooms and 43 additional distribution transformers have been set up for 71 immersion sites. In Rangareddy Zone, 25 control rooms and 22 additional distribution transformers have been arranged for 29 immersion sites.

In Metro Zone, 12 control rooms and 39 additional distribution transformers have been established for 10 immersion sites. The CMD instructed officials to thoroughly re-inspect the routes of the large idol processions, prioritize electrical safety, and remain vigilant to prevent any disruptions during the procession.

Orders were issued to nominate the Directors and Chief Engineers as in-charge to monitor the power supply arrangements during the immersion program in Greater Hyderabad and coordinate with officials from other departments, the CMD said.
