62-Year-Old Sentenced To 10 Years Imprisonment For Rape In Peddapalli

The Principal District and Sessions Court in Peddapalli district on Tuesday sentenced a 62-year-old man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a woman in Odela mandal and imposed a fine of ₹7,000.

Following a complaint lodged at the Potkapalli police station, then circle inspector G. Subba Reddy arrested the accused and filed a chargesheet after a thorough investigation.
During the trial, the Judge, Justice K. Sunitha, found Rayamallu guilty after hearing arguments from both the sides. Public Prosecutor Donkena Ravinder played a pivotal role in presenting witnesses and proving the crime.
Commissioner of Police Ambar Kishor Jha emphasised that such strict legal action serves as a deterrent against crimes against women and congratulated the police team, including Peddapalli DCP Bhukya Ram Reddy and Sultanabad circle inspector P. Ranjit Rao for their diligent efforts in ensuring the conviction.
ACB arrest senior assistant for taking bribe via digital payments
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday arrested a senior assistant and former in-charge of Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) for allegedly collecting illegal gratification through digital UPI payments in Peddapalli district.
The accused, identified as Manda Kiran Kumar, currently serving as in-charge SRO of Gangadhara mandal in Karimnagar district, was apprehended at his residence in Nizamabad.
The arrest followed a surprise check conducted at the Peddapalli SRO office. Investigations revealed that between October 27 and November 12, 2025, Kiran Kumar allegedly received ₹1,06,500 from his private assistant Bittu (alias Ratna Kumar) through UPI transactions. The amount was reportedly collected as bribes from applicants seeking property registrations.
The ACB officials said the officer had acted dishonestly to obtain undue personal benefit.
The accused is being produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar.
The ACB has urged the public to report bribe demands through its toll-free number 1064 or via its social media platforms, assuring confidentiality of complainants.
Tanuja murder triggers Nepali worker checks
The investigation into the murder and robbery of Tanuja, wife of retired IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Ray, in Jubilee Hills has prompted unprecedented measures. For the first time, special teams comprising special branch and law and order police have been instructed by senior officials to collect details of both employers and Nepalese employees across all city zones.
Teams have already begun gathering information on Nepali workers. Zonal officers have strongly urged employers to notify local police and submit personal details and photographs before hiring. “Those who have employed Nepalis have been advised to be vigilant,” a police officer said.
Meanwhile, the special teams probing the case have obtained vital leads from relatives of prime accused Kalpana, who has been detained along with associates in the city and Maharashtra. Kalpana and six accomplices allegedly murdered Tanuja and fled with 22 grams of gold and cash. Two suspects have been detained in Pune, while others are believed to be in Bangalore, police sources disclosed.
Investigators found that Kalpana possessed Aadhaar and voter ID cards identifying her as a labourer from Pune, prior to joining as a domestic help at a businessman’s house in Lucknow. The probe has also uncovered her involvement in fabrication and forgery of identity documents in Pune, Lucknow and other states.
Chain‑snatcher gets five-years RI
The 16th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Nampally on Tuesday sentenced Muthu Hari Krishna to five years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹25,000 after finding him guilty in a chain‑snatching case.
On July 24, 2018, the accused snatched a gold chain from a woman near Patarki Dargah and fled. He was later arrested by Shahalibanda police, who recovered the stolen chain.
Detective inspector B. Narasimha Sanjay Reddy conducted a meticulous investigation and presented foolproof evidence before the court. After evaluating the material, magistrate G. Prabhakar convicted Hari Krishna and pronounced the sentence.
The SHO commended officers and staff for completing the investigation on time and securing the conviction. Inspector P. Mahesh Goud urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police without delay.
Shadnagar: Two Arrested for Killing Labourer and Fleeing with ₹50,000 Cash
Two persons were arrested for allegedly murdering a 39-year-old labourer, Palle Kasavulu, stealing ₹50,000 from him and his bike, and dumping his body at an isolated place in Veerlapally. The body of Kesavulu was dead with head injuries on May 10.
He had gone to Parigi to discuss a dispute related to his grandfather’s agricultural land where he borrowed ₹50,000 from his employer Srinivas Rao’s wife. Carrying the cash, he reached the bus stand on his way home.
Kesavulu later went to a wine shop near the Shadnagar bus stand, where he came into contact with the main accused Pullogovila Bazaranna. They drank liquor together and Bazaranna noticed the cash that Kesavulu was carrying. A woman, Bainla Yadamma, joined them near the wine shop.
Bazaranna and Yadamma conspired to rob Kesavulu and took him on the victim’s motorcycle towards SRR Venture on the Shadnagar–Veerlapally road at around 10.30 pm, police said. Mob Attacks Police and Film-Set Cattle Transporters in Kothapet; Nine Arrested
Saroornagar police arrested nine persons for attacking cattle transporters and police personnel after intercepting a vehicle carrying bulls near Kothapet crossroads in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 1.45 am when a group of persons unlawfully stopped the lorry transporting eight bulls along with their owners to Purani Haveli for a film shoot. Suspecting that the animals were being taken for slaughter, the mob allegedly restrained the occupants, abused them and assaulted them.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the vehicle along with the cattle towards Fathullaguda Goshala for safe custody. However, when the vehicle reached near Chaitanyapuri U-turn, some members of the group followed the lorry on two-wheelers, stopped it on the road and pelted stones at the vehicle and police personnel.
An inspector and other personnel sustained injuries in the attack while the vehicle was also damaged. A case was registered under various sections BNS. The arrested accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused.
Two Die in Separate Incidents Under Choutuppal Police Limits
Two persons died in separate incidents reported under Choutuppal police station on Tuesday. In the first incident, Bakkathatla Jangaiah, 57, a lorry driver from Toopranpet, died after his motorcycle collided with an unidentified person.
According to police, Jangaiah was travelling from Toopranpet to Hyderabad on his two-wheeler at around 11 am when the man suddenly came onto the road. The bike rammed into him, causing both to fall. Police said Jangaiah sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. The pedestrian suffered injuries at multiple places and was shifted by locals in an ambulance to the Choutuppal Government Hospital for treatment. Based on a complaint lodged by Jangaiah’s son Naresh, police registered a case and began investigation.
In another incident, Kandagatla Niranjan Reddy, 36, a tenant farmer, collapsed while cutting grass at a farmland in Malkapuram revenue limits around 8.30 am. A local noticed him lying unconscious and alerted his family. He was shifted to Choutuppal Government Hospital in a private vehicle, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police suspect cardiac arrest or other health complications may have caused the death. A case was registered based on a complaint lodged by his wife and is being probed.
Three Detained for Stealing ₹15 Lakh Cash Near Panjagutta Stamp Vendor
Three persons have been detained for stealing a bag containing ₹15 lakh that the complainant had placed at a stamp vendor’s chair was busy purchasing stamps in Panjagutta.
Panjagutta police on May 8 received a complaint from Afshin Jadidi, a resident of Abids in which he stated that at 10.20 am he left his house on his scooter carrying carried a bag containing ₹15 lakh cash for depositing in various banks as directed by his employees Naresh Deunani and K. Narendra Rao.
On the way, he stopped at a shop at Panjagutta, and kept his bag on a plastic chair near the shop. At about 12.10 pm, an unknown person stole the bag and fled, Panjagutta detective inspector S. Nagaraju said, quoting from the complaint. The complainant suspected that somebody might have followed him and committed the theft. “We booked a theft case and identified the accused through CCTV footage,” he said.
