Hyderabad: In a swift and effective judicial outcome, the Abids police secured a conviction against five individuals involved in a public harassment case.

The III Special Judicial Second Class Magistratei M. Bhasker delivered the judgment on Friday. The Magistrate found all five accused guilty and sentenced them to seven days of imprisonment for offenses under sections 70(A) and 70(C) of the City Police (CP) Act.

At 6.30 pm on May 27, five individuals in an inebriated condition misbehaved and harassed a woman who was traveling with her husband on a motorcycle at Nizam College PG hostel. Acting promptly on the incident, the Abids police registered an e-petty case and produced the accused before the court.

The five persons include Sunil (23), Umesh (22), Laxman (23), Purushotham (22) and Ram (23), all Nepali nationals, residing at King Koti. They were working as catering workers.

Abids Inspector K. Parashuram appreciated the investigating officer and his team for their diligent efforts in ensuring swift justice and establishing a strong deterrent against women harassment.
