4.5 Lakh Indiramma Houses Sanctioned In First Phase

JANGAON: The Telangana government’s objective was to make the state free of thatched huts and Indiramma houses would be sanctioned in phases to every eligible poor family, revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said.
The minister participated in a programme at the Preston College ground in Jangaon on Saturday to distribute sanction letters for Indiramma houses. He announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each for 500 families identified as living in thatched houses in the Jangaon Assembly constituency.
Srinivas Reddy said 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses had been sanctioned across the state in the first phase, with financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for each house. Another 2.5 lakh houses had been sanctioned in the second phase, he said, adding that an additional 2,000 houses had been allocated to the Jangaon constituency.
Funds were being directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts every Monday based on the stage of construction, he said.
The minister said financial assistance ranging from ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh would be provided to complete unfinished Indiramma houses, including those where only walls or slabs had been completed. He also announced immediate sanction of ₹2 crore to make incomplete double-bedroom houses in Jangaon fit for occupation. Officials were directed to hand them over to eligible beneficiaries by Dasara.
Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy requested the government to immediately commence development works sanctioned at a cost of ₹18.90 crore in the municipality. He also sought funds to widen the Vadlakonda-Shamirpet bypass into a double-lane road and for repairs to the Chitakodur bridge and Gandiramaram pumping facilities.
Later, the minister handed over sanction letters for Indiramma houses to 500 beneficiaries.
