4-Year Wait for Fee Dues Leaves JNTUH IDP Students Seeking Relief

Integrated BTech students allege first two years' scholarship balance remains unpaid

Integrated BTech students at JNTUH have sought government intervention to release pending fee reimbursement dues under the scholarship scheme.

Hyderabad: More than four years after enrolling in the Integrated BTech Programme at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), several students have alleged that a portion of their tuition fee reimbursement remains unpaid, forcing their families to bear expenses that were expected to be covered under the state scholarship scheme.

The issue pertains to students admitted to the Integrated BTech Programme (IDP) at the JNTUH University College of Engineering Science and Technology, Hyderabad (UCESTH) during the 2021–22 academic year.

According to students, those eligible under the fee reimbursement scheme were entitled to an annual reimbursement of Rs 70,000. However, only Rs 35,000 was released during the first and second years of study, leaving a shortfall of Rs 35,000 per year.

“What is frustrating is that the full reimbursement amount of Rs 70,000 was released during our third and fourth years. That itself shows the course is eligible for the higher reimbursement, but the dues from the first two years are still pending,” said Javvaji Kumar D.

Another student, Rahul N., said the delay persists despite students completing all required formalities. “We submitted all necessary documents, completed verification procedures and followed the process on time. Yet the pending amount has not been released. Many students come from families that depend on these reimbursements to meet educational expenses,” he said.

Students said the reimbursement amount reflected for the programme was later revised from Rs 35,000 to Rs 70,000 after the issue was taken up with the authorities. However, the revised amount has not resulted in the release of the pending balance for the first two years.

With the matter remaining unresolved, students recently submitted a representation to the Medchal-Malkajgiri District Collector, seeking intervention and coordination with the concerned government departments and the Electronic Payment and Application System of Scholarships (ePASS) authorities for the release of the pending dues.

Students said the delay has placed a financial burden on several families and urged the government to clear the outstanding reimbursement at the earliest.
