HYDERABAD: Thirty-nine students from the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) have cleared the June 2025 CMA Foundation examination, taken alongside their Intermediate studies. Seventy-five students had appeared for the national-level test conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI), which opens a path into the CMA Intermediate Programme.

A statement said the Goulidoddi centre of excellence saw the highest number of qualifiers, 18 out of 28. Ibrahimpatnam followed, with 14 of 23 and at the Medchal centre, seven of the 23 candidates made it through.

The foundation exam, known for its rigour, includes four papers covering economics, management, accounting, law, ethics, business mathematics and statistics. Each candidate must score a minimum of 40 marks in each subject and a combined total of 200 to qualify.

Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar congratulated the students and said the results reinforce the purpose of the Gurukula system in expanding opportunities for students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Dr V.S. Alagu Varsini, society secretary, announced the introduction of a dedicated CMA coaching programme for 480 students this academic year. The initiative will be run at the centres of excellence in Ibrahimpatnam and Saroornagar. The society has requested chartered accountancy firms, corporates and academic institutions to support these students by offering internships, mentoring opportunities and scholarships.


GHMC Panel Clears Rs 5 Breakfast, 15 proposals

HYDERABAD: The GHMC Standing Committee has approved serving breakfast at Indiramma Canteens for ₹5 starting mid-July. In addition, the committee cleared 15 more proposals, including repairing and strengthening the main bund at Saroornagar Lake at an estimated cost of ₹5.60 crore and widening and developing a 100-foot road from the Shastripuram RoB to the Inner Ring Road (near Mehfil Hotel) at an estimated cost of ₹4.95 crore.

The proposal to develop a Hyderabad Sculpture Park along the KBR Park walkway in Jubilee Hills has been put on hold.

KCR Undergoes Second Round Of Health Check-ups

HYDERABAD: Former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday underwent a second round of check-ups at a private hospital, and returned to his Nandinagar residence in Banjara Hills in the evening.

Rao, it may be recalled, was admitted for a day at the hospital last week following a bout of ill-health and the doctors had said that they put him on treatment for higher than normal sugar levels, and electrolyte imbalances with elevated sodium levels. After a week of rest, he was back at the hospital on Thursday for a follow-up. After nearly spending the entire day at the hospital, returned home in the evening.

According to BRS leaders, the health of the former chief minister was fine and there was no cause for concern.
