301 Fatalities Reported on Highways in Cyberabad Limits in 2025

While 34 fatalities were reported on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), four on PVNR expressway and 202 in GHMC limits. Around 186 fatal accidents took place on roads maintained by Roads and Buildings and 76 fatalities on other roads

Hyderabad: As many as 301 fatalities were reported on the national and State highways in Cyberabad limits in 2025 as against 293 in 2024. However, the number of fatalities was reduced to 803 in 2025 compared to 856 in 2024.

While 34 fatalities were reported on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), four on PVNR expressway and 202 in GHMC limits. Around 186 fatal accidents took place on roads maintained by Roads and Buildings and 76 fatalities on other roads.

These statistics were shared with the media persons during the annual press conference convened by the Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty here on Tuesday.

Over 21.42 per cent of deaths were reported due to self accidents, while 3.88 per cent deaths were due to driving in the opposite direction and 2.82 per cent deaths were due to driving under the influence of alcohol. Around 8.12 per cent deaths took place due to drivers’ error and 63.76 per cent deaths due to other reasons.

Of the 803 fatalities in 2025, 449 were motorcyclists, while 282 were pedestrians and 58 were four-wheeler drivers. Forty one and 17 were heavy vehicle and three-wheeler drivers, respectively.

Cracking the whip on those driving in a drunken condition, the Cyberabad traffic police booked 15,706 cases in 2025 as against 18,959 cases in 2024. The police managed to secure jail terms to 385 motorists in 2025 as against 32 in 2024.
