3 arrested for Rs 7-lakh grocery store theft

Hyderabad: Uppal police arrested three thieves within two days after they broke into a grocery store and stole Rs 7 lakh cash. The accused had already indulged in alcohol, one had cleared a debt, and another had even moved to a new house before being caught.

According to the police, the accused — Mohammad Khader, his cousin Shaik Abdul Moin and their friend Abdul Khalid — were experienced in house burglaries and had mastered the art of breaking shutters with bare hands. On Sunday night, already intoxicated, they conspired to rob a grocery store in Hannapura. With the store owner away at the Kumbh Mela, employees had left the cash inside, making the shop an easy target.

After the theft, they split up — one hiding in Sangareddy, another in Sadasivapet and the third moving to a new house in Rajendranagar. When police tracked the suspect to his new home, they found him relaxing under a ceiling fan. The officers apprehended all three and remanded them in custody.
