268 drunk drivers held in weekend crackdown in Cyberabad
Cyberabad police conducts weekend special drive
Hyderabad: A strict enforcement drive against drunk driving was conducted by the Cyberabad Traffic Police (CTP) over the weekend on Friday night resulting in apprehension of 268 offenders. The CTP seized 223 two-wheelers, 10 three-wheelers, 33 four-wheelers, and 2 trucks during the operation.
Among those caught, 35 individuals had blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging from 200 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml, posing a significant risk to public safety. All offenders will be produced before the court concerned for further legal proceedings.
Individuals found driving under the influence and causing fatal accidents will be arrested and prosecuted under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine. The Cyberabad traffic police urged motorists to follow traffic laws and prioritize road safety.
