25 Heritage Sites Eye Global Funding
The heritage department will highlight 11 protected sites, including the Taramati Baradari, Akanna Sarai in Maheshwaram, the Ghanpur group of temples from the Kakatiya era in Warangal, the Rashtrakuta-period Medak fort, Mudumal menhirs, Pachala Someshwara temple and the Panagal museum in Nalgonda district.
HYDERABAD: Prominent heritage structures including the Pachala Someshwara temple in Nalgonda district, the 8th century Medak fort, and the Taramati Baradari are set to regain their past glory, with the state government identifying them for restoration and beautification.
Around 25 monuments across Telangana will be showcased at the 60th World Monuments Fund conference, scheduled to be held at Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University here on January 16. Officials from the heritage department, GHMC and HMDA are preparing proposals with detailed estimates to present before international stakeholders. The initiative is being taken under the slogan ‘Own Your Monument, Adopt Your Monument’.

In Hyderabad, structures identified for restoration include the Old MCH office, Katora Houz, City College, Puranapul bridge, the chemistry and physics blocks of Koti Women’s College, Osmania University Arts College and the ENT Hospital.
Beyond restoration, officials plan to seek funds for regular maintenance to ensure long-term preservation of the state’s heritage.
