Karimnagar: Twenty-three passengers were injured — five of them critically — when a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus and a mud-laden lorry collided head-on along the Rajiv Rahadari on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the accident occurred between Andugulapalli and Appannapeta villages, where highway repairs had reduced traffic to a single lane. The bus was travelling toward Peddapalli, while the lorry was heading to Karimnagar.

Of the 42 people aboard the bus, 23 suffered serious injuries; several others, including the lorry driver and cleaner, escaped with minor wounds. Emergency services rushed the injured to Peddapalli District Hospital.

A case has been registered, and investigators are examining whether the one-way traffic arrangement contributed to the collision.
