21 kg Poppy Husk Seized, 1 Held

Hyderabad: A 44-year-old man was arrested with 21 kg of poppy husk in a joint operation by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Amberpet police on Tuesday. The accused, Mangala Ram of Barmer district, Rajasthan, had migrated to Hyderabad in 2022 and was living in Chengicherla. He worked as a steel welder with his brother-in-law.
According to task force DCP Y.V.S. Sudheendra, Ram became addicted to poppy husk in Rajasthan and began procuring it in Hyderabad. Since he could not bear the cost of his habit, he had decided to sell the drug for additional income. Police seized a mixer grinder, two mixer jars, two weighing machines, a strainer.

One arrested for theft of 2-wheeler
Hyderabad: Shadnagar police arrested one Korra Vinod for the theft of two-wheelers on Monday. On June 21, the police received a complaint from Narsimulu after his bike went missing near the Shadnagar RTC bus stand. Following technical analysis, police nabbed Vinod and and recovered four bikes, including the stolen vehicle. Police traced 11 bike thefts across Shadnagar, RGIA, Kothur, and Afzalgunj to Vinod.
Man held for friend murder in brawl
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old man, Basavaraj from Karnataka, was murdered after a brawl with his friend Rathod Prem Kumar in Indiranagar in Borabanda, late on Sunday night. Borabanda inspector M. Surender said that Rathod launched the attack after Basavaraj threatened to kill his parents. Police said that Rathod was sober at that time.
Basavaraj’s uncle Jayendra Nayak lodged a complaint with the police who arrested Rathod.
Cooking gas blast kills 1, 3 injured
Hyderabad: An unidentified man was killed, and three persons injured after cooking gas exploded in a house at Market Road in Medchal, around 9.35 pm on Monday. One of the injured, Tirupatamma, 48, was a resident.
Due to the impact of the explosion, the walls of the house collapsed, and debris shot out on to the road. The explosion caused extensive damage to both Tirupatamma’s house and the a mobile telephone shop of Dinesh Kumar, who lodged the police complaint.
The victim was passing by when the explosion occurred. He suffered a severe head injury and was shifted to a private hospital where he was declared dead. Dinesh Kumar, who also sustained injuries, was shifted to a hospital for treatment
Another local, Md Rafiuddin, 30, received a serious bleeding injury to his left hand. Tirupatamma was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
While preliminary reports point to a gas cylinder blast, police said the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. “The space barely had any ventilation. We felt a leak in the gas pipe led to the gas accumulating,” Medchal Inspector A Satyanarayana said.
Forensic teams were called to examine the site.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway. The deceased's body was shifted to the Medchal mortuary for postmortem examination.
Techie killed in car crash
Hyderabad: A 27-year-old software engineer, identified only Sidda, died after another vehicle hit his car, causing it to crash into the road divider and land on the other side of the road, where a lorry approaching from the opposite side it. The incident occurred near the Mrugavani national park in Moinabad, on Tuesday evening, Moinabad inspector G Pavan Kumar Reddy said. Sidda was going towards Aziznagar in his car when the incident occurred.
Following a complaint from his sister, Sai Tejaswini, the Moinabad police registered a case and launched an investigation. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the vehicle that rammed into Sidda’s car belonged to one Aslam. When questioned, Aslam claimed he had lent the vehicle to relatives.
Police said the driver fled the scene soon after the incident and is currently absconding. Efforts are on to identify and trace him.
Man killed in public, having tea in cafe
Hyderabad: In yet another murder in broad daylight, a 35-year-old man, Mohd Mahbub, was stabbed to death by four persons at a restaurant in Yellammabanda in Jagadgirigutta, around 4.30 pm on Tuesday. Balanagar ACP G Hanumantha Rao said Mahbub had a rowdy-sheet and was named in 13 criminal cases –12 of them for theft at the Musheerabad police and a murder case with the Patancheru police station.
Mahbub was having tea when the gang which came in an autorickshaw stabbed him. Police were informed through a Dial 100 call, reached the spot and sealed the area. A huge crowd was seen gathered around the crime scene.
“We have identified a few suspects and four of our teams are on their way to apprehend them by tomorrow morning,” the ACP said.
Man Posing as MP’s Son Held
Hyderabad: A 29-year-old man who pretended to be a VIP and cheated people in KPHB, was arrested on Monday. KPHB police said Vikranth Reddy alias Vayila Venkateshwarlu, a native of Guntur, claimed to be the son of an MP from Andhra Pradesh and a neurosurgeon at at prestigious hospital chain.
The complaint was lodged by the owner of Sitara Women’s PG Hostel in KPHB, where Vikranth made multiple visits under the guise of helping his cousin and juniors. Gaining the complainant’s trust, he convinced her to hand over a four-tola gold chain for “remodelling” at a jewellery shop he claimed to own. He duped her into paying Rs.1 lakh and then fled.
Based on a tip-off, the KPHB police apprehended him at the JNTUH traffic signal on Monday. Vikranth was previously involved in several similar cases reported in Kavali, Santhapeta, Kakinada, Jubilee Hills, and more.
