NELLORE: Kavali One Town Police registered a case against two alleged real-estate brokers for reportedly obstructing vigilance and enforcement officials during an inquiry into suspected illegal layouts and encroachments of government land in and around Kavali.
The vigilance investigation was launched on May 28 following directions from the director general of vigilance and enforcement into allegations that irrigation canals, government lands, ponds and other public properties had been encroached upon and converted into layouts.
During the inquiry, officials summoned document writers, recorded their statements and seized CPU units containing records related to layouts under scrutiny.
According to the complaint, Chavala Ramakrishna and Kanakakireeti Ramakrishna allegedly entered a document writer’s office while officials were examining records, questioned their authority and disrupted the proceedings. They were accused of arguing with officials, throwing aside documents and preventing them from carrying out their duties for nearly 20 minutes.
The duo also allegedly attempted to influence document writers not to cooperate with the inquiry.
Based on a complaint lodged by Vigilance authorities, police registered a case and launched further investigation.
