3 More Army Personnel among 7 Held In Bollarum Arms Theft Case: Police
Mallesh committed the offence with the help of other accused with an intention to commit huge property offences and no terrorist or extremist connections were noticed.
Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police arrested seven more persons in connection with theft of arms and ammunition at Bollaram army facility. With this, the number of people arrested in the case went up to eight.
These seven persons were in addition to accused number one Havildar U Mallesh, who was caught on September 11 and sent to judicial remand. The seven arrested include Mallesh’s relative U Mallikarjun and friend Ch Nirangan, K Seshulu, a sepoy, Vinod Kumar, a naik, K Praveen, a Havildar, and two arms dealers Avi Dey alias Obi and Birbal Shaw, both natives of West Bengal.
Addressing a press conference here, Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B Sumathi said that Mallesh committed the offence with the help of other accused with an intention to commit huge property offences and no terrorist or extremist connections were noticed.
Mallesh was previously involved in house burglary thefts reported in Achampet and Amrabad police station limits.
During the interrogation, Mallesh confessed that, in 2022, while he was posted at Barrackpore in Kolkata, he got introduced to. Birbal Shaw, who used to run sugar cane juice center near to his unit, developed intimacy with him.
Through Birbal Shaw, he purchased one country made firearm tapancha and one live round from Avi Dey paying Rs.10,000. As he has a previous crime history and is addicted to lavish livelihood, he planned to extort money.
He concealed the same in his portion in the 1st floor of his father’s house at Sai Nagar Colony, Achampet, but never used the same in any offences and showed it to his friend and batch-mate Praveen of Gundlapottapalli in Jadcherla.
