Hyderabad: The GHMC demolished 15 encroachments located on about a half-a-kilometre of the Tilaknagar Road in Abids. They were mostly temporary structures put up by food vendors outside their establishments. While some set up seating arrangements, others set up cooking equipment and additional sale counters.

Officials said some units had occupied the portion of the road, built concrete portions in front of their kiosks, which reduced the road width. According to the GHMC, the establishments were warned multiple times against encroaching on the road space, but in vain.

"The establishments do not have parking facilities; in addition to this, they encroach on the road, and the vehicles of their customers further occupy the road portion, resulting in traffic congestion," said a GHMC official.
