Adilabad: A high number of anomalies detected during pre-mapping has caused concern among voters ahead of the household survey under the special intensive revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls in Adilabad district.

The discrepancies include spelling errors in names, age-related variations, surname inconsistencies, mismatches in family details, errors in dates of birth and incorrect relationships such as “son of” or “daughter of” printed instead of “wife of” in voter identity and Aadhaar cards. Variations in surname usage within families have also been reported.

Officials said electors need not panic, stating that provisions exist for corrections. A draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, with claims and objections to be accepted from July 31 to August 30. Notices will be issued to electors with anomalies seeking documentary proof, and inquiries will be conducted from July 31 to September 28. The final electoral roll will be published on October 1.

According to official data, 1,38,303 electors with anomalies have been identified out of 3,57,064 mapped voters in the district, accounting for 38.73 per cent. The total electorate in Adilabad district stands at 4,66,784, with 1,09,720 remaining unmapped.

In the Adilabad Assembly constituency, 1,67,364 electors have been mapped out of a total of 2,53,393, with 83,029 unmapped. The number of electors with anomalies stands at 73,457. In the Boath Assembly constituency, 1,89,700 electors have been mapped out of 2,16,391, with 26,691 unmapped, while 64,846 electors have anomalies.

Officials observed that anomalies are higher in urban areas compared to rural and tribal regions. In Mavala mandal, 10,496 electors, accounting for 56.50 per cent of mapped voters, have anomalies, while in Adilabad Urban mandal, 32,566 electors, or 61.30 per cent, are affected.

Officials said migrant voters are using pre-mapping data available in neighbouring Maharashtra to trace family records for corrections.

A Congress leader associated with the SIR process said discrepancies were largely linked to variations in surnames, age and spelling across Aadhaar cards and voter identity documents, and advised voters to furnish details as per Aadhaar records while submitting enumeration forms.
