Hyderabad: This year’s Hanuman Jayanti bike rally is expected to draw around 1.2 lakh participants across the city. The event, organised by Bajrang Dal, will begin at 8 am on Saturday from the Karmanghat Hanuman temple and conclude at the Hanuman temple at Tadbund.

Preparatory meetings are being held area-wise across the city, with organisers coordinating with the police, GHMC and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth conduct of the rally. The Bajrang Dal has called upon Hindus to participate in the rally.

According to temple authorities, the 12th-century Karmanghat Hanuman temple was established after a Kakatiya king, while resting during a hunt, heard chants of Lord Rama in the forest.

Upon investigating, he discovered a stone idol of Lord Hanuman in a seated position. That night, Lord Hanuman appeared in the king’s dream and asked him to build a temple—leading to the construction of the temple at Karmanghat.

Starting from Karmanghat, the rally will wind its way past Champapet, Saidabad, Malakpet ACP office, Saroornagar, Kothapet, Dilsukhnagar, Malakpet Chowrasta, Chaderghat and Koti. At Koti, the procession will merge with another rally starting from Rama Mandir, Gowliguda. From there, the unified rally will move through YMCA Narayanguda, RTC crossroads and Secunderabad, culminating at the Hanuman Temple at Tadbund in Secunderabad.

VHP national spokesperson Ravinuthala Shashidhar said, “The special guests for the rally will be Ramvilas Vedanti Swamiji at the Ram Mandir, Gowliguda, and Kamalananda Bharathi Swamiji at the Karmanghat Hanuman temple.” Appealing for wide participation, he stated, “I request all Hindu brothers to take part in this rally.” According to the police, around 80,000 bikes participated in the procession last year. “As we are holding continuous meetings with temple associations across Greater Hyderabad, we are expecting around 1.2 lakh bikes this year,” an official said.
