102 LIG Flats Allotted Through Lottery in Warangal

Warangal: The long-cherished dream of home ownership became a reality for 102 lower-income group (LIG) families on Thursday as the Telangana Housing Board conducted a transparent lottery to allot flats at Ramky Enclave, near Warangal Railway Station, under the state government’s affordable housing initiative.

Though the government could have generated higher revenue by auctioning the flats, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed that the units be reserved exclusively for low-income families at affordable prices.

Eligibility was restricted to local residents earning less than Rs 50,000 per month and not owning a house. The cost of one-bedroom flats ranged between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 21.5 lakh. Following the instructions of Housing Board Vice-Chairman V.P. Goutham, all applications were subjected to strict verification before being cleared for the lottery.

The draw was held at a private function hall and conducted in the presence of applicants. To ensure complete transparency, the proceedings were live-streamed on YouTube, and the winning slips were drawn by the applicants themselves.

Scenes of joy and emotion marked the event, with several beneficiaries expressing gratitude to the government for enabling them to own homes in a prime locality at affordable rates. Many said they never imagined owning a house in Ramky Enclave and that the allotment had ended years of living in rented accommodation.

Officials said the allotment marked a significant milestone for the Housing Board in Warangal, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive urban development.
