Vijay Says DMK And AIADMK Are The Same

CHENNAI: Calling upon the people to teach a lesson to the DMK and the AIADMK for conspiring to prevent the TVK from coming to power, Chief Minister and TVK president C Joseph Vijay said that both the parties were now one and the same, each supporting the other, and that he was the only political leader who had taken a firm stand against the DMK.
Speaking at an election campaign meeting in Dharapuram Assembly constituency that is going to the polls on October 6, Vijay said that the TVK was following the words of former Chief Minister C N Annadurai, who had said ‘go the people and live with the people,’ but without acting selfishly like those of the DMK.
During the campaign rally, TVK candidate Sathyabama broke down in tears while speaking on stage complaining of being trolled and denigrated when Vijay, who was on the stage, rushed to console her. Sathyabama, who had defected to the TVK after winning the Dharapuram seat in an AIADMK ticket, said that she left the AIADMK because it was having a secret alliance with the DMK.
Also, the rally saw a former senior AIADMK leader and erstwhile Minister Semmalai joining the TVK officially in the presence of Vijay, who welcomed him into the party fold just as he was to ascend the campaign stage by presenting a party shawl to him. Semmalai had left the AIADMK alleging that he was being sidelined in the party. His entry into the TVK is expected to boost the party’s prospects in the Kongu region, particularly Salem and its surrounding districts.
Vijay claimed that his government had eliminated official corruption and was providing a bribe-free administration with full dedication and listed out TVK’s achievements like closing down 717 liquor shops, the formation of a woman police strike force called ‘Singpen padai,’ provision of 200 units of free electricity and so on.
Among the election promises that he had honoured so far were the ‘Vetri Travel Scheme’ in which women travel free in all government buses and 3 free cylinders per year, he said and added that religions would be respected by the TVK government that followed a secular, social justice policy. The TVK led alliance was called the ‘Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance,’ he said.
Though DMK president M K Stalin would openly say that he would bow to the verdict of the people, he never did it but only conspired with the AIADMK, which was a faction of the BJP, to pull down the TVK government. When he spoke about the Sarkaria Commission in the Assembly, it was the AIADMK members who were angry.
Calling upon the voters of Dharapuram to vote for the TVK and not the AIADMK that had betrayed the memory of the party’s founder MGR and former chief minister J Jayalalithaa by striking a deal with the DMK, Vijay said that the TVK would provide good governance.
