CHENNAI: Citing the incident at Kolathur Assembly constituency in Chennai on Tuesday when the president of the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay had to stop his campaign and leave the place in a huff, the party filed complaints with the Chief Electoral officer, Archana Patnaik, about the lack of proper protection and demanded adequate security at its meetings.
Vijay and also the party’s general secretary (election campaign management) Aadav Arjuna lodged separate complaints with the CEO, raising the issue and demanding security by the police or CRPF.
Aadhav Arjuna alleged that violence was unleashed against women who took part in the meeting and named officials who were responsible for the incident and said that sharp broken bottles were hurled at the people.
Demanding justice and fair play in the elections, the TVK alleged that the assault on their leader was by anti-social elements belonging to the DMK, who were directly instigated by that party president M K Stalin.
