TN Seeks Industry Partnership In Healthcare
Tamil Nadu is seeking stronger partnerships with industry and healthcare institutions to develop technology: Reports
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu is seeking stronger partnerships with industry and healthcare institutions to develop technology-driven solutions to tackle hypertension, diabetes, cardiac diseases, cancer, trauma care and mental health, health secretary, Dr. Darez Ahmed, said on Saturday.
Delivering the keynote address at the sixth edition of CII Tamil Nadu MedClave 2026 in Chennai, he said Tamil Nadu’s strong public healthcare infrastructure and private-sector capacity made it well-placed to implement innovative solutions at scale.
The state had achieved significant progress in maternal and child healthcare through digital monitoring and effective care coordination. The focus was now on emerging health challenges, requiring collaboration between the government, industry, hospitals and technology innovators, he said.
Partnerships could improve early diagnosis, patient tracking, treatment adherence, emergency care and mental health interventions, he added, inviting stakeholders to identify key challenges and work towards measurable outcomes.
The conclave, organised by CII Tamil Nadu on the theme ‘Intelligent Healthcare: From Innovation to Implementation’, brought together healthcare providers, policymakers and technology companies to explore the use of AI and digital technologies in improving patient outcomes.
In his special address, CII Tamil Nadu chairman C. Devarajan said healthcare was an important driver of economic growth, employment, investment and innovation. Tamil Nadu should strengthen its position as a medical value tourism destination and make healthcare a key contributor to its USD 1.5 trillion economy target by 2036, he said.
The conclave honoured Dr. R.V. Ramani, founder and managing trustee of Sankara Eye Foundation India, with the CII lifetime achievement award for healthcare excellence for his contribution to eliminating curable blindness.
