May your music continue to resonate as a guiding light and source of inspiration for generations to come, CM Vijay wrote in his message shared on X.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Vijay Joseph greeted music maestro Ilaiyaraaja on his 83rd birthday on Tuesday with a post shared on his X account stating, "Warm birthday wishes to the musical genius Ilaiyaraaja."
Sharing the internationally acclaimed music director's journey, Vijay said, "Born in the village of Pannaiyapuram in Theni district, beginning his musical journey alongside his brothers, stepping into the film industry through the movie "Annakili," Ilaiyaraaja achieved numerous milestones, world-renowned symphony music, and shone as the crown jewel of the music world while bringing immense pride to Tamil Nadu.
" May your music continue to resonate as a guiding light and source of inspiration for generations to come. Heartfelt birthday greetings infused with our love and respect to you, who stand as a beacon of pride for Tamils, " he wrote in his message in Tamil.
Ilaiyaraaja (born Gnanathesigan) composed the music for two of actor Vijay's films - Kadhalukku Mariyathai in 1997 and Friends in 2001. The music director had earlier shared an old film song featuring Vijay from the 1988 film Ithu Engal Neethi, which was directed by Vijay's father, SA Chandrasekhar, and composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film featured a young Vijay in one of his earliest roles as a child artist. The move was widely interpreted as a gesture of support ahead of the Tamil Nadu election results on May 4, ultimately after which Vijay won with a majority and finally became Chief Minister.
