Chennai: Unveiling the brief gist of DMK’s manifesto for the 2026 Assembly elections, Chief Minister M K Stalin promised to fulfil the dreams of the people, convert their demands into schemes, give shape to their thoughts and turn Tamil Nadu into an extraordinarily successful State.

Launching the DMK government’s latest state-wide scheme titled ‘Unga Kanava Solunga’ (Tell us your dream) at Ponneri in Tiruvallur district on Friday, Stalin took a swipe at the Union BJP government, the opposition AIADMK and the State Governor R N Ravi, accusing them all of working against the interest of the State and its people.

While the Union Government that conspired against Tamil Nadu and the Tamil people and consistently refused to cooperate on implementing anything beneficial to the people was still continuing in power at the Centre, the AIADMK, which pledged the rights of the State to the BJP when it was in power, had turned into a ‘yes-man’ now and spreading canards and false news against the DMK government, he said.

Then the Governor, who should have been a bridge between the Union and State governments, had been a stumbling block for initiating any development programme for the people by not clearing the Bills that reflected the people’s wishes and passed by the Assembly, he said.

It was only because the people stood by the State government, the DMK could fulfil 404 of the 505 promises that it gave to them during the 2021 elections and figure on the top of the development data released by the same Union Government that had been refusing funds and neglecting the State otherwise, he said.

The AIADMK that emptied the funds of the State before losing power was casting doubts over every initiative of the DMK government like declaring that the scheme to provide assistance to women would not be implemented. Despite their naysaying, the amount was being credited to the accounts of 31 lakh women every month, he said.

They claimed that the free bus ride for women would not be possible since the transport corporations were running at loss but the day after assuming power, he was able sign on the files to implement the scheme, he said and listed the other welfare schemes that had been helping the people.

The DMK government also changed the mindset of industrialists who were earlier averse to investing in Tamil Nadu when the AIADMK was in power and the State had drawn investments to the tune of Rs 10 lakh crore after the DMK came to power, he said.

Enunciating the various welfare schemes, including the distribution of Rs 3000 Pongal gift that was underway across the State, he said the government had been concerned about meeting the needs of the people and it was in that spirit the ‘Tell us your dream’ programme had been launched.

In the next 30 days volunteers would visit every home to know about the dreams of the people and record it in the mobile app for the government to devise a scheme with a long-term vision for 2030 that would make the State self-reliant on seven counts including rural and urban infrastructure, agriculture and fisheries, education and skill development, employees and industries, success in language and cultural development, progress of communities and so on, he said.

The scheme implemented by the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women would engage 50,000 volunteers belonging to the women's Self Help Groups in the State to reach out to people in 1.91 crore rural and urban localities.
