Chennai: BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundarrajan on Monday lauded Chief Minister C. Joseph saying he had brought out the corrupt activities of the DMK with evidence at the Assembly. He is forcing the DMK to run out of the Assembly by exposing their corrupt practices brought out by the Sarkaria Commission report, she said.

Addressing reporters at a function at Kanchipuram, she said the DMK held a dharna protest since the Assembly proceedings were being telecast alive. She said there should be corruption in politics in future and everyone should be afraid of corrupt activities. She presided over the wedding of 11 poor couples arranged on behalf of the Hindus trust at Orikkai in Kanchipuram.

Tamilisai praised the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) for the live telecast of the Assembly proceedings and recalled that she was making the demand for the last ten years. The Chief Minister was bringing out the corrupt actions of the DMK in the Assembly and forcing them to run out of the Assembly.

She said the Sarkaria Commission had clearly stated that the DMK was involved in ‘scientific corruption’ like the Veeranam scam. (A scheme to bring drinking water to Chennai from the Veeranam lake in Cuddalore which was later successfully implemented by AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa.

The youth who watched the Assembly proceedings on television would develop fear of corruption as they would think such activities would come out anytime. Though she had contrary views on the TVK, the act of exposing the DMK was laudable, she said, adding she could not accept the TVK alliance with the ‘corrupt Congress’.
