Chennai: In the third tranche of ECMS (electronic components manufacturing scheme) approvals announced on Friday by the Union Government, Tamil Nadu would get 23,451 job openings, which amounted to 69 percent of the total 34,061 employment opportunities, State Industries Minister T R B Rajaa said.

In his social media message, he said 22 projects were approved in the tranche and Tamil Nadu would benefit the most as the 23,451 jobs would be from just three projects. While TATA Electronics would open 1,500 employment opportunities, Motherson would add another 5,741 and Foxconn would contribute to another 16,210 high end jobs, he said.

Unlike the first two tranches where state-wise and project-wise investment numbers were made public, this time only state-wise job numbers and product-wise investment numbers had been released, he said in this social media message.

‘Today’s data shows that Enclosures investments is at ₹27,166 crore, and all three Enclosures investments are from Tamil Nadu and no other state. So, of the ₹41,863 crore worth of investments approved in the third tranche, a massive ₹27,166 crore via Motherson, Foxconn and Tata Electronics, is from Tamil Nadu alone,’ he said.

Tamil Nadu’s Foxconn investment (Yuzhan Technology) approved under ECMS had emerged as the single largest approval, he said, adding that the approvals reflected the consistent policy and execution-driven governance under the leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin.

Rajaa said the year 2025 was focused on conversion of MoUs into jobs and earlier pitches into MoUs and added that 270 MoUs, worth a total of Rs 2.07 lakh crore of committed investments, were signed in 2025 and they had opened up over four lakh new job opportunities.

What stood out was not just the growth but the distribution of the growth, he said and explained how investment conclaves moved beyond Chennai, regional spread of investments improved and industrial employment reached new districts.

Tamil Nadu, the first State to formulate and launch its own ECMS, also strengthened its position in futuristic sectors with the long-term industrial bets clicking with the carefully built ecosystem working, he said.
