Tamil Nadu Police suspend JCP D. Magesh Kumar following a harassment complaint by a female constable, with the case now under investigation.

Tamil Nadu Police have suspended Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic-North) D. Magesh Kumar after a female constable from the traffic department accused him of harassment. The constable filed her complaint with the state's Director General of Police (DGP), Shankar Jiwal, leading to Kumar's suspension.

The complaint has been referred to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), which is headed by senior officer Seema Agarwal. The committee will conduct a detailed inquiry and consider the possibility of further legal actions.

Kumar, a Deputy Inspector General (DIG)-rank officer, had been transferred from his previous position as Traffic-South to Traffic-North in December 2024. Reports indicate that Kumar had been on medical leave for the past week.

This incident follows other notable cases of sexual harassment in the state. In December, a second-year engineering student at Anna University was allegedly sexually assaulted, with the suspect being a local vendor. In February, three teachers from a government school were arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student and are currently in police remand.
