Tagore Challenges Nagenthran to Condemn K’taka BJP
The BJP is trying to stop the rights of Tamil Nadu and its betrayal would not be forgiven, the Congress leader said.
Chennai: TNCC president B. Manickam Tagore on Sunday urged BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss to condemn the Karnataka BJP unit for announcing protests against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, a day ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on the subject.
Posting a message on X, the Congress MP said the Tamil Nadu government had moved the Supreme Court seeking an order to the Karnataka government to release Cauvery water as per the schedule. The hearing is to be taken up by the Supreme Court on Monday and the Karnataka government has started releasing water as it understands its position before the court.
Tagore said the Karnataka BJP unit headed by B.S. Yediyurappa had announced protests to besiege the dams from which water is being released. The BJP is trying to stop the rights of Tamil Nadu and its betrayal would not be forgiven, the Congress leader said.
Tamil Nadu Congress would not hesitate to condemn the government headed by the party on the Cauvery issue but the Nainar Nagenthran is unable to condemn his partymen in Karnataka. He asked why Nainar Nagenthran and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss were silent.
