Chennai: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday declared that the NDA would emerge victorious in the Assembly polls due this year in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, adding NDA would form government in Tamil Nadu in April 2026.

Addressing a BJP rally in Pudukottai to mark the conclusion of state BJP leader Nainanr Nagenthran’s election yatra, he listed out the victories of the BJP-NDA's wins since 2024, which included the party’s third consecutive win in Haryana Assembly election. The BJP leader asserted that it was now the turn of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal to record victories for the BJP.

Strongly coming down on the DMK government over alleged corruption, the BJP leader asked how the state can progress with an "army of corrupt ministers’. He attacked the DMK for ‘dynasty rule’ and said a dream to perpetuate it would not come true. “The time has come to put an end to family politics in Tamil Nadu,” he said.

Nagenthran who spoke in the meeting charged former minister V. Senthil Balaji for the Karur stampede in which 41 people were killed and also faulted Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay for coming late to the meeting.

He hit out at the DMK on the Thirupparankundram lamp lighting row and charged the party with practising ‘dynasty politics’. Nagenthran urged the party workers to take a vow and toil hard to unseat the DMK from power. He listed the crimes against women and children in Tamil Nadu and charged the DMK government with corruption to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore in Tasmac sale.

The BJP meeting marked the culmination of Nagenthran's state-wide yatra ‘Tamilagam Thalainimira Tamilanin Payanam’ (a Tamil's yatra for Tamil Nadu's rise) that commenced in Madurai on October 12, 2025.

The BJP state chief also charged that the DMK alliance is working to make Udhayanidhi Stalin the chief minister and creating an impression that its alliance is robust. Nagenthran also sung a song from AIADMK founder MGR’s film ‘Urimai Kural’ which means that the goal of a good person would succeed.
